In operations that involve handling and moving of oil based products at sea, the potential risk of oil spills is greater; it is therefore recommendable to retain efficient pollution prevention methods that provide immediate solutions.

Controlling the spill itself is the first measure that must be adopted. For this, containment barriers, such as floatation devices that divert slicks to prevent oil reaching sensitive areas, and containing and concentrating the spill oil to facilitate the clean-up through skimmers.

Oil that has been recovered must be collected in storage tanks prior to final processing. ITURRI tanks are light and portable. They are constructed of PVC packaged polyester. They are suitable for the temporary storage of spill water hydrocarbons or other waste materials.

ITURRI works with clients to provide assessment and specialised training for all its equipment. Training and preparation of staff members is essential when efficiently responding to a spill.

Theory based training entails a series of courses designed to provide information on types of spills and how to contain, clean up and store waste in addition to technical aspects of containing pollution etc.
This training would be incomplete without real-life simulation. This involves the deployment of the entire system during a simulated emergency. The correct usage of equipment, responsiveness to deployment and coordination of staff members are the key of success in any contingency
