Technical Congress. New regulations on fluorinated agents

A technical conference was carried out in Iturri’s factory in Utrera (Seville) on the 30th of March in which the new regulations which affect the gaseous agents using in the fire extinguishing systems were debated.

Experts in the subject matter participated in this conference in order to get a better understanding about the current regulations on fluorinated agents, as well as the implications and consequences of said regulations. The conference helped those in attendance to understand the current problem and to be able to identify the different alternatives available depending on the type of risks which protection needs to be provided for. Due to the changes in the regulations over the last few years which have led to the implementation of an environmental tax on fluorinated gases, a clarification of the regulatory matters which will be applicable in 2017 was necessary, as well as a discussion on the trends or alternatives for the sector in the future.

Those in attendance were also able to witness the discharge of NOVEC extinguishing agent in a specially prepared area within Iturri’s facilities.

At the end of the day they had the chance to visit the plant, where they were able to see the latest technology being used in the manufacturing of fire-fighting vehicles.

The conference was attended by many of the employees from the Cepsa San Roque and Cepsa La Rábida sites, with staff representing the safety, engineering, and maintenance departments.
