The Sherpa 4x4, an exceptional military vehicle

On the 17th of February, the SHERPA 4x4 high-mobility tactical vehicle was introduced at the La Marañosa Institute of Technology (ITM).

This event, organised by the ITURRI Group together with its ally Renault Trucks Defense (RTD), is part of an agreement between the two companies.

The idea was not only to introduce the SHERPA 4x4, which is part of RTD’s wide range of military vehicles, but also to showcase its exceptional qualities of mobility in any terrain and its high level of outfitting, including ballistic protection.

Following the presentation in the auditorium, there was a standing display of the vehicle that allowed all attendees to see its design and construction features first-hand.

Dynamic tests were also conducted on the ITM all-terrain track, underscoring the SHERPA 4x4’s mobility and ability to handle obstacles.
The presentation sparked enormous interest and was attended by over fifty representatives and experts from all areas of the Ministry of Defence, General Headquarters and Logistics Commands.

The ITM is part of the Directorate General of Armament and Materiel of the Ministry of Defence, and is a national and international standard-bearer in Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) in the fields of Security and Defence, for both civilian and military applications.
The ITURRI Group vies for several Ministry of Defence programmes to replace the Armed Forces vehicle fleet.

These programmes include the replacement of about 10,000 tactical trucks (4x4, 6x6 and 8x8) and more than 1,800 armoured logistics vehicles and 4x4 light logistics vehicles.

The award of these programmes would entail the production, sale and maintenance of the Renault Trucks military vehicles that Armed Forces may acquire over the next few years.
